CHANGING LIVES
What can be more rewarding?
CREATING SAFETY AND STABILITY FOR KENTUCKY CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
Children who have experienced abuse or neglect need more than a safe place to stay. They need consistent care, specialized treatment, educational support and dependable adults who can help them regain stability. For families across Northern Kentucky, DCCH Center for Children and Families brings these essential services together.
DCCH has served Kentucky children and families since 1848. While its work has evolved over the decades, its focus remains on addressing the emotional, physical and practical needs of people facing difficult circumstances.
Through its residential treatment program, DCCH provides a structured, trauma-informed environment for children ages 6 to 15 who have been removed from their homes by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Children live in small-group arrangements with around-the-clock supervision and receive individualized care from therapists, social workers and therapeutic behavior specialists.
Treatment may include individual, family and group therapy designed to strengthen self-regulation, communication and relationship-building skills. Guardian Angel School, located on the DCCH campus, provides small classrooms and individualized academic support to help students prepare for a successful transition to a less restrictive school setting.
DCCH’s therapeutic foster care and adoption services extend that support into family homes. The organization prepares and assists foster families caring for children from birth through age 18, provides respite care and works toward reunification with birth families whenever possible. When reunification is not possible, adoption or independent living may become the plan.
Care is also available beyond the residential and foster care programs. The Therapy Center at DCCH offers evidence-based counseling for children, teens, adults, couples and families. In-person and telehealth services address concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, stress, family communication and major life transitions.
DG Agency is supporting DCCH Center and helping bring attention to this network of care. By highlighting DCCH’s work, the agency is helping more people understand how the organization creates safety, supports recovery and strengthens relationships for children and families throughout the region.
